This project involved the development of three new websites for Environment Scotland:
Each website is part of a central portal, which helps to bring information on a variety of projects into one place, covering topics as diverse as weather, soils, air quality, water quality and protected species. The intention is to make it easier for participants to take part in projects, find a home for new projects they have created, see their contributions and discuss it with others. The portal also provides a place to try out new approaches towards data gathering and engagement, new tools and new resources.
The three new project websites are built in WordPress, with the data being forwarded to a central data repository via a REST interface from which data can be exported in various formats for further analysis and reporting. The websites themselves repurpose the data by means of interactive maps and graphs.
